Counselling for Brighton FAQ
What is counselling?
Counselling is a safe and confidential space for you to explore any issues and problems that you have on your mind.
Together we can explore those issues and find ways of dealing with them. As a counsellor, I will help you find your own solutions rather than giving advice. This will build your own confidence and ability to deal with problems in the future.
What kind of counselling do you do
I am a Humanistic counsellor, which means I believe human beings are essentially good and also have the potential to grow and develop.
I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which is a type of therapy where we explore our thoughts, and how these thoughts affect the way we feel and behave. For more information about me please take a look here.
How do I start counselling?
You can call me or email me to arrange an appointment.
How much does it cost?
The session is £60 for a 50-minute session and £90 for couples.
What happens next?
If you are happy to work with me, we can fix a time to meet each week, usually at the same time and on the same day.
How long do I have to have counselling for?
That depends on you. Some people come for a few sessions whereas others prefer to come for long-term counselling.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Everything said in the room is between me and my supervisor, unless you tell me something which I think may harm you or someone else, in which case I may need to break that confidentiality.
What do I do if I'm unhappy about the counselling?
If you were unhappy about the counselling we could discuss that together and I would be happy to make some changes to the process or you could stop having counselling.
Do I have to do anything between the sessions?
Sometimes I ask clients to write a diary or they might do an experiment to test something out that was talked about in the session.
Do you have a receptionist and a waiting room?
There isn't a receptionist but there is a waiting room.
Can I park near the counselling room?
Yes, You can park for £1 an hour in the area.
Can I pay by card?
No. I'm afraid you have to pay by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
If you have any other questions or would like to book an initial session please contact me.
